How long have you been with ASI?
Growing up at ASI, I feel like it’s always been a part of my life. During summers and on college breaks I’ve played installer, sign-maker, and receptionist (because I’m great at talking). I also spent a summer in the vinyl department, where I got separated for talking. Naturally, I’m in Business Development now, where my talking is appreciated. "Officially" I have worked here for 23 years. Seeing our company grow has been inspiring.
What is a project you are really proud of?
There are so many. I truly enjoy collaborating on community projects like the 1920’s Dundee Theatre. This restoration brought the theatre back to the 21st century while maintaining its historical look. The opportunity to consult, produce, and install exterior signage and donor recognition for this landmark theatre was a treat. There’s no better feeling than seeing this beautiful place and knowing it’s for the betterment of an entire community.
Along with historical renovations are numerous downtown Omaha projects that take old buildings and make them into really cool urban living projects. Learning the history and creating something new that "fits" with the design of the facility is one of my favorite things to do.
Honestly, every project is very special to me. I love developing relationships with the end users and signs are just a part of it.
What differentiates ASI?
What we can offer our clients is quite unique. Sure, there are commercial sign manufacturers, but we offer a full-service architectural sign solution that begins with consulting, designing, engineering, and continues until final installation. We offer a 360-degree approach you won’t find anywhere else.
What is the most important aspect of your job?
Communication and teamwork! Making myself available to clients for questions and keeping them up-to-date on projects is very important to me. Many of my clients are my friends, although Omaha is a big city, it’s got the feel of a small town. We’ve been building these relationships for years and it takes clear communication, and a good sense of humor.
If you could go an all-expenses-paid dream vacation, where would you go?
Australia! It looks beautiful, and it would be fun to visit a place so different from Nebraska.
